Where to start

Moving to a new city can be daunting, especially at the beginning. However, there are many opportunities for you to connect with others in the Bay Area.

You can meet fellow interns through our program or become a member of Meetup, which connects groups with similar interests. You can even join international student communities, such as the San Francisco State University’s International Education Exchange Council. A social life at your fingertips!

Get your Dutch on

To find Dutchies in the Bay Area, join Facebook’s SFDutch page. Another great way to meet Dutch expats is to attend one of the celebrations held by the Dutch Consulate General in San Francisco every year, such as Flower Bulb Day (March 7) or King’s Day (April 27). For information about these events, follow the Dutch Consul General of San Francisco on Twitter @NLinSF which will keep you up to date on all things Dutch in San Francisco.

New Kid on the Block

Unlike the Dutch “doe maar normaal, dan doe je al gek genoeg” culture, its American counterpart is exceptionally and almost excessively welcoming. Housemates are therefore a great way to explore the city and extend your network! Ask for recommendations, and make connections through your newfound friends. Enthusiasm is guaranteed.
