Tell us a bit about yourself.

“With a background in biomedical imaging from my bachelor's degree and a master's in computer science and artificial intelligence, I'm passionate about leveraging technology to make a meaningful impact in healthcare.”

Why did you apply for the Internships in the Valley program?

“I've always been driven by the opportunity to merge my two passions – healthcare and technology – and what better place to do so than SF, where innovation thrives and startups flourish! 🌇 Can't wait to dive in and contribute to the growth of this dynamic industry!”

What are some things you’ve learned from working for a start-up? Any highs and lows?

“Working at Fireworks AI has been a fast-paced, challenging, but rewarding experience. The rapid learning and constant problem-solving have pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. Being part of an AI startup means contributing directly to cutting-edge innovations, which is incredibly fulfilling. However, the long hours, high pressure, and limited resources typical of startups have been tough at times. The uncertainty and constant change can make things feel unstable, but overall, the chance to work closely with a great team on something impactful makes it all worth it.

How are you enjoying living in the Bay Area? How would you compare it to NYC?

“Living in the Bay Area has been great, especially with its strong tech ecosystem and endless opportunities to connect with people in AI and innovation. The mild weather and access to nature are a nice contrast to NYC’s intensity. That said, New York’s energy, diversity of industries, and vibrant cultural scene are unmatched. While the Bay Area is laid-back and tech-driven, NYC offers a faster-paced lifestyle with a broader range of experiences. Both places have their unique appeal depending on what you’re after.”

Your internship is soon coming to an end, any plans for after?

“I’m exploring several possibilities. I’m keen on pursuing a full-time position at Fireworks AI if the opportunity arises, as I’ve enjoyed being part of the team and contributing to its growth. At the same time, I’m looking at other AI-focused companies in the Bay Area to see where my skills and experience might fit best. I’m also considering further specializing in AI, either through additional coursework or side projects, to keep pushing my knowledge and expertise forward.”

What has been your favorite experience while living in the U.S.?

“My favorite experience in the U.S. has been exploring the natural beauty around San Francisco. From hiking in Muir Woods to visiting the breathtaking views of Point Reyes and Big Sur, the outdoor adventures have been unforgettable.”

How do you reflect on your past few months in the U.S?

“Reflecting on the past few months, I’ve had the chance to expand my professional network, connecting with people across multiple tech hubs. It’s been an enriching experience that’s boosted my skills in AI and frontend development. On a personal level, adapting to new work cultures and environments has contributed to significant growth, making this time in the U.S. incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally.”
